World’s Largest Rabbit Insured For $1.6 Million

Rabbit insurance is never cheap, but it really becomes that little bit more expensive when your bunny is Darius, the world’s largest rabbit.

Every day Darius eats one bowl of rabbit cereal, followed by 12 carrots, two red apples and half a cabbage. In between he likes to snack on hay and water.

Owned by Annette Edwards, Darius hasn’t been the only outstanding pet to enter the Edwards’ home. In fact, Darius is the fourth world record rabbit to be owned by Annette Edwards, although this certainly makes his story no less interesting. Darius has just been insured for the sum of $1.6 million, with a rabbit insurance quote I’m sure most bunny owners would been happy to avoid.

At 4 feet and 3 inches, he’s catching up with a lot of school children. In fact, he could probably even take a small kid out, should there ever be a fight over carrots or should they make fun of his big ears.

According to Edwards, people often ask her what her secret for breeding huge rabbits is, but Annette simply tells them it’s not more than good quality care and nurture.

No mention has been made in the media as to which rabbit insurance company was used, however there’s no doubt that many would be jumping – hopping even – at the chance to insure Darius. As to the astronomical pet insurance quote, well it seems Annette is only too happen to invest in her bunnies, having just offered a £70,000 salary for a helper to carry Alice, now her second largest rabbit.

Darius is just 12 months old and Annette Edwards, his breeder and now publicist, expects him to continue growing for at least six more months.
